Hi,

I am in need of some assistance with my PC PAR.  For the purposes of
testing the PAR, I have rendered the Space Fighters animation included
with LWPC 4.0 (Pre-release) to the PAR drive (a Quantum Fireball 540).
While the frames were being rendered, I went over to my local Radio
Shack and purchased a 25ft. coaxial cable with F-type connectors, and
an F-type to BNC adapter.  Once home, the animation was finished, and
the PAR NT program indicated that there was one animation on the drive.
So far so good.  I connected the F-type/BNC adapter to one end of the
coax cable, and plugged the BNC end into the NTSC output of the PAR.
I then hooked the other end to my TV, a 20" cable-ready (I.e. no
antenna/tuner) JVC.  I set the TV to channel 4 (where the VCR normally
is located), and clicked PLAY on the transport window of the PAR
software.

What I got on-screen was very similar to the way HBO looks if you don't
subscribe to it.  The screen was scrambled, but I could make out vague
shapes and motion, so I could tell that there was a video signal in
there somewhere.  I tried other channels on the TV, with similar
results.

Then, I thought maybe I needed to run the signal (NTSC composite, acc.
to the DPS manual) through the VCR, since it has a built-in tuner.  I
thought maybe this would condition the signal in such a way that the
TV would be able to understand it.  After making the appropriate
connections, I hit PLAY again, and still got a really messed-up
picture on my screen.  I reprogrammed the VCR to look for antenna input
rather than cable input; no improvement.

It should be obvious by now that I am something of a vidiot.  The only
other thing I can think of to give me a better picture (and hence a
better signal for recording) is to install an RF adapter somewhere on
the line from the PAR.  But I thought that the VCR would take care of
that function.

Can somebody help me out with this?  What am I doing wrong?
